Special Representative of Ukraine for Moldova-Pridnestrovie Settlement Igor Kharchenko and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine in the Republic of Moldova Sergey Pirozhkov Visit Pridnestrovie

Today, President of the PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk received Special Representative of Ukraine for Moldova-Pridnestrovie Settlement Igor Kharchenko and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine in the Republic of Moldova Sergey Pirozhkov. The meeting was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Nina Shtanski.

According to Press-Service of the Head of State, the meeting was mainly focused on intensification of Ukraine-Pridnestrovie cooperation, and also solution of problems of Ukrainian citizens living in Pridnestrovie.

“In Kiev we closely watch the way relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova are developing”, Igor Kharchenko marked during the conversation with Yevgeny Shevchuk. As the diplomat told, Moldo-Pridnestrovian settlement is a priority issue at Ukraine's Foreign Ministry.

Igor Kharchenko arrived in Tiraspol to exchange views on topical issues of bilateral cooperation. He positively valued the dialogue with the President of Pridnestrovie Yevgeny Shevchuk. “It was a productive meeting at which common evaluations of issues and perspectives of cooperation were voiced,” Special Representative of Ukraine for Moldova-Pridnestrovie Settlement told.

Yevgeny Shevchuk thanked Ukrainian diplomats for constructive approach in the negotiation process. Pridnestrovian President also marked significant contribution of the Ukrainian Embassy in the Republic of Moldova in solution of problems of compatriots residing in our Republic. “Ukraine is a very important partner and neighbour of Pridnestrovie. Many matters of our socio-economic development depend on interaction with Ukraine”, PMR's President Yevgeny Shevchuk told in interview for journalists. “We have outlined possible ways for solution of problems which are of concern for Pridnestrovian people”.

Today Ukrainian representatives also visited Bendery gymnasium named after I. Kotlyarevsky. They brought Ukrainian national costumes and textbooks as a present for students. During their visit to gymnasia, the diplomats held the meeting with the core group of Ukrainian community “Ukrprosvita”.

The day before, Special Representative of Ukraine for Moldova-Pridnestrovie Settlement marked his jubilee. At the meeting President Yevgeny Shevchuk and Minister of Foreign Affairs Nina Shtanski congratulated Igor Kharchenko on this remarkable event.

The congratulatory address by the Head of the foreign office, in particular, reads, “Your high professionalism and experience of a diplomat You, dear Igor Yurievich, today actively use in the process of Moldova-Pridnestrovie relations settlement. Your activity largely contributes to the strengthening of climate of stability and security in the whole region, promotes rights and interests of Ukrainian citizens residing in Pridnestrovie.

Your personal contribution to development of bilateral ties and neighborly relations between Pridnestrovie and Ukraine is highly valued in Tiraspol, as well as Your activity as an active participant of the negotiation process, and we accept with gratitude Your assistance and support on all issues of Ukraine-Pridnestrovie relations”.
