08/08/12

Today the Republic of South Ossetia commemorates the fourth anniversary of the invasion of Georgian troops. On that day mourning ceremonies are taking place across the country, devoted to the tragic events of August, 2008.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR is mourning with the people of South Ossetia. The notes of condolence have been sent to the Head of foreign-political agency of South Ossetia David Sanakoyev and to the Head of Official Representation of the Republic of South Ossetia in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Sergey Surago.

“Four years passed since the day when Georgian troops launched large-scale hostilities against the people of South Ossetia. Undeclared war led to hundreds of casualties among civilians and to streams of refugees”, – is stated in note of condolence, addressed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia David Sanakoyev. “In that tragic moment Russian Federation gave assistance to the people of South Ossetia. It was in a matter of several days that Russia drove out Georgian troops and established peace on the territory of the country”, – is said in the note of condolence.

Contribution of South Ossetian diplomats in further maintaining of peace and of atmosphere of stability in the republic is noted in the address sent to Head of the South Ossetian MFA David Sanakoyev.

“Operation for peace enforcement launched by the military command of the Russian Federation helped to stop the injustice”, – is said in address sent to the Head of Official Representation of the Republic of South Ossetia in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Sergey Surago.

The MFA of the PMR believes that complex opinion by the different sides of the conflict on what happened is not able to close the eyes of the eyewitnesses of the humanitarian disaster provoked by deeds of aggressors – mass murder of people, destroyed houses, forced resettlement of people from their homes. In Pridnestrovie these four-year-old events are considered to be the genocide of the Ossetian people.

“Due to the duty, responsibility and fraternal support of Ossetian truthful allies – Russia and Abkhazia, Georgian-American blitzkrieg suffered overwhelming defeat. Once again the strength of the Ossetian spirit and uncompromising attitude of the Ossetian people towards discriminative policies of official Tbilisi became pledges of victory in the war and later – guarantees of peace and security of Ossetian citizens”, – is stated in the note.

In this day of mourning for the fallen during the military aggression of Georgia against the defenders of South Ossetia and civilians the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pridnestrovie expresses deep compassion to the grief that came to the people of the fraternal republic and sends most sincere condolences to the people of South Ossetia.
