The PMR Foreign Ministry held a meeting of the PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev with the Ambassador-at-large of the Foreign Ministry of Abkhazia, Vito Grittani, who visited Pridnestrovie for the first time on a familiarization visit. Alexandr Vataman, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia in Pridnestrovie, also took part in the meeting.

Welcoming the guest, Vitaly Ignatiev positively assessed the high dynamics of the diplomatic contacts of Abkhazia and Pridnestrovie at all levels.

“We are familiar with your diverse activities in Italy in the framework of the representation of the interests of Abkhazia. Pridnestrovie has a special attitude towards Italy, which last year was the OSCE Chairman and remains one of the main trade and economic partners of the republic. There is also the public organization “Friendship Society Italy – Pridnestrovie” in Italy. Therefore, your broad experience in the framework of the Abkhaz-Italian cooperation is of substantive interest for the Pridnestrovian side. We will be happy if it can be replicated in the Pridnestrovian direction”, the PMR Foreign Minister noted.

Vito Grittani is known for his work on the public diplomacy of Abkhazia in the territory of the Italian Republic. In particular, he contributed to the creation in Italy of the Europe-Abkhazia Association, the UNESCO-Sukhumi Club and the Abkhazian Institute of Culture named after Dmitry Gulia, aimed at deepening the Abkhaz-Italian cooperation and forming a positive image of Apsny in the European Union space. The diplomat also participated in the opening of the representative office of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Abkhazia in Italy.

During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation in a wide range of areas. Diplomats raised a number of issues related to the holding of joint activities on the Italian sites in the educational and cultural-humanitarian fields. In addition, the interlocutors focused on the possible implementation of investment projects in Pridnestrovie. At the end of the conversation, the parties agreed to continue regular working contacts on the whole range of issues of mutual interest.

As part of his visit, the Abkhazian diplomat also held a meeting at the Ministry of Health of the PMR, where, within the framework of the humanitarian component of the visit, he donated 80 blood glucose meters to medical institutions in Pridnestrovie.
