Nina Shtanski: “Today we are uniting not to defend ourselves but to develop cooperation in framework of Eurasian space”

Briefing in extended format for Russian and Pridnestrovian Mass Media with participation of the President of the PMR and members of Government of the PMR took place today in Tiraspol. During the press-conference Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Nina Shtanski was asked a question on the preparation of the new edition of the Pridnestrovian Foreign Policy Concept and on cooperation of foreign-political agency with other state bodies.
Nina Shtanski noted that work on new edition of the Foreign Policy Concept of Pridnestrovie is of top priority for her agency. According to her, MFA already has certain concrete results and in autumn, according to President's instruction, project shall be proposed for discussion for wide public. Minister pointed out that Pridnestrovian citizens should express their opinion about the document first of all and only after that members of Parliament in cooperation with executive bodies shall work out the final text of the document.
Commenting on this issue, President of the PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk noted that not always constructive discussions are taking place in Internet community and in the newspapers on the issue of cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR with the Supreme Council on development of new Foreign Policy Concept. Head of State pointed out that Ministry of Foreign Affairs was instructed to involve representatives of state bodies and agencies, representatives of civil society and all those who are ready for constructive dialogue into work on the document. “We are undoubtedly interested in constructive proposals on issues of foreign policy and we are interested in implementation of our foreign-political goals in which MPs of the Supreme Council can participate”, – Yevgeny Shevchuk stressed out.
Minister noted that under MFA's initiative representatives of the Supreme Council of the PMR, of the institutes of civil society, of national communities are involved in preparation of the document. She reminded that on July 4 meeting of the Public-expert Council under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR took place which included representatives of state bodies, of academic society, of business society, of republican public organizations. According to Minister, representatives delegated by the Chairman of the Supreme Council actively participated in this meeting. Nina Shtanski expressed hope that by August 1 parliamentarians and other members of the council shall present their comments and proposals which will be reflected in the final project. As Minister noted, consolidated approach to such work is essential. She also pointed out that not only the document defining foreign policy of the state itself is being worked out with participation of members of Public-expert Council but also project of strategy of implementation of the Foreign Policy Concept.
Nina Shtanski stressed out importance of idea of integration of Pridnestrovie into Eurasian space. “President declared Eurasian integration as a national idea of Pridnestrovie. For us it is a new consolidating paradigm. Twenty years ago Pridnestrovians had to unite their efforts against the foreign threat, for defence of their rights. Today Pridnestrovie is consolidating in the name of development and progress. We are uniting in order to develop our cooperation in framework of Eurasian space”, – Minister said.
