Today Minister of Foreign Affairs Nina Shtanski met Representative of the UN High Commissioner on Refugees (UNHCR) Peter Kessler. Legal adviser of the UNHCR Octavian Mohorea also took part in the meeting.
The sides discussed issues of refugees, asylum seekers and stateless persons residing on the territory of Pridnestrovien Moldavian Republic. Peter Kessler noted, that there are no complains from the refugees on the Pridnestrovien authorities. The UNHCR representatives hope that cooperation with Pridnestrovie in these issues, which had been broken 10 years ago, shall be restored.
Head of the MFA of the Republic Nina Shtanski pointed out that Pridnestrovien Moldavian Republic has already adopted a number of laws concerning refugees and ratified the European Convention on Citizenship. Minister also noted that legal aid and exchange of information on issues concerning refugees and stateless persons could become one of the key elements of cooperation with the office of UN High Commissioner on Refugees.
The guests expressed their desire to cooperate with the Pridnestrovien State University after T.G. Shevchenko in holding lectures on topics of concern.
Other fields of cooperation were also discussed during the meeting.
