On the Visit of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to Romania and Moldova

On July 20, 2011 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belgium to Romania and Moldova Philippe Beke visited the Pridnestrovien Moldavian Republic. Belgian diplomat made a visit to Glory Memorial in Bendery and historical complex “Bendery Fortress” together with PMR's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Simonenko.

Then Sergey Simonenko received Phillipe Beke in PMR's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the meeting the participants discussed current situation in negotiation on normalization of the relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Pridnestrovien Moldavian Republic in the light of unofficial consultations in 5+2 format, held in Moscow on June 21, and other contacts on different levels between Moldova and Pridnestrovie. Deputy Minister informed Belgian diplomat about the fact, that Pridnestrovien position in negotiation, based on the Constitution of the country and the results of referendum, held on September 17, 2006, lies in necessity of leading equal dialog, taking in consideration the interests of people of the Pridnestrovien Moldavian Republic. Sergey Simonenko made a proposal to focus on solving of social and economic problems, which influence the living of population of Pridnestrovie and Moldova.

During the meeting diplomats also discussed the number of issues of economic interaction of the Pridnestrovien Moldavian Republic and the European Union.
