Nina Shtanski: “Moldova and Ukraine jointly take new restrictive measures against Pridnestrovian enterprises”

Loss of economic agents from the new unilateral measures could exceed 1.5 million USD by the end of 2015

Speaking with the media after the meeting of the political representatives from Pridnestrovie and Moldova Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR for International Cooperation, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nina Shtanski said that this time we are talking about the movement of goods by rail. “We learned that Moldova and Ukraine held separate talks in which the Pridnestrovian side was not involved and the result of which violates at least three provisions of the Protocol Decision “On the principles of resumption of a full-scale  freight railway communication through the territory of Pridnestrovie”, - said the diplomat.

She clarified that the new agreements of Moldova and Ukraine violate the technological scheme of movement of goods by rail (note by the press service of the MFA of the PMR: on the road section “Slobodka - Slobodka - export – Rybnitsa”) agreed in 2012 by Pridnestrovie and Moldova. “The movement of goods for Pridnestrovian enterprises becomes more than 2 times more expensive which will affect the cost price of the products and lead to unexpected losses of the enterprises, and the contracts, as you may see, have already been signed for the whole 2015. As a result, the products cannot be sold, and thus, it is easy to assume what risks will arise from it for specific companies, business prosperity, people, their income and in general for preserving jobs. These are new restrictive measures which, in our opinion, Moldova and Ukraine are trying to take together”, - emphasized Nina Shranski.

The minister said that the Pridnestrovian side already has a number of complaints from enterprises in Rybnitsa which reported the incurred losses amounting to about half a million dollars. Projected losses before the end of 2015 could reach several million dollars. “Faced with this alarming situation, and taking into account the fact that the matter concerns, perhaps, about the most outstanding success of the negotiation process over the past 4 years, we have decided to hold a special meeting next Thursday in Kishinev. It will be a meeting of political representatives, which will be attended by representatives of the Pridnestrovian and Moldavian railways, customs authorities, and, if possible, specific enterprises. Today the Moldovan side has assured us that the changes adopted jointly with Ukraine have no risks for Pridnestrovie, however, we have to deal with it together,” - stated Nina Shtanski.
